“The market is up considerably” – Chad Schumer reacts to the 2014 Keeneland November Sale

November 15

CHAD Schumer, as agent, ended the 2014 Keeneland November Sale in Lexington, Kentucky, as the leading buyer by number of horses bought for the fourth consecutive year. Over the course of the 11-day sale, Schumer signed for 42 horses worth $1,365,000.

They ranged from the $120,000 paid for Striking Flight, a Smart Strike mare in foal to Bodemeister, to Tap Dance, a Grade 2 winner who cost $1,000 (purchased to continue her breeding career in Kentucky).

Schumer also signed for stallions Graeme Hall, Stratford Hill and Harlington.

“I think it’s unquestionable that the market is up; it’s up considerably,” Schumer told Keeneland in a release. “Anything here that’s young and of real quality in terms of mares, the sky’s the limit. There’s been competition at every level. (My orders) are not all filled, and they’re not going to get filled. We’ll redirect some of ouy buying to January (Horses of All Ages Sale at Keeneland). No choice.”

Schumer Bloodstock will next be in attendance at the Goffs November Breeding Stock in Ireland and Tattersalls December Sale, Newmarket.
