Strong start to Keeneland meet for Schumer Bloodstock

The dams of both winners were purchased at auction by Schumer Bloodstock as was Kendall Hill, whose daughter Adriani was touched off in Sunday’s feature event at Keeneland, the $60,000 Runnymede Purse. Kendall Hill was purchased by Schumer Bloodstock for a mere $2,000 at the 2012 Keeneland November Sale in foal to Roman Ruler. Three-year-old Adriani (by Medaglia d’Oro) was also a reserve for Saturday’s Ashland Stakes (G1).

Starsilhouette made short work of the $80,000 AOC race on Keeneland’s opening card last Friday, drawing off under Alan Garcia to win by 3 3/4 lengths. It was the 13th win for the daughter of Orientate and saw her break the $300,000 earnings barrier. Her dam, Lure Of Gold, is a Formal Gold three-parts sister to Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) winner Evening Attire and was a $25,000 purchase by Schumer Bloodstock at the 2013 Keeneland January Sale in foal to Majestic Warrior.

Sunday’s action saw last season’s Toronto Cup winner and Autumn Stakes (G2) runner-up Patrioticandproud make a successful return to action as the 3 1/4 length winner of the $80,000 AOC race for Mark Casse. Now the winner of four races and nearly $310,000 in earnings, the son of Proud Citizen was bred in Pennsylvania by Mike Jester out of Luvina. The Forest Wildcat mare was most recently purchased in foal to Lookin At Lucky at the 2012 Keeneland November Sale by Schumer Bloodstock for $40,000
