Spring Steen romps in stakes; dam bought by Schumer B/S
The progressive Spring Steen made it two from two for the year on Monday with a nine-length win in the Miranda Dune Stakes for owner-breeder Mike Grossman.
Spring Steen is out of Spring Unbridled, who was bought by Chad Schumer while carrying the filly for $35,000 at the 2014 Keeneland November Sale.
Trained by Francisco Bravo, Spring Steen won two of four starts and was stakes-placed in another during last season. The daughter of Maclean’s Music returned this year to win an allowance by close to ten lengths and was similarly impressive in the Miranda Dune.
Spring Steen is the best of three winners out of Spring Unbridled, an Unbridled’s Song half-sister to stakes winner Kid Mambo from the immediate family of top miler and significant European sire Selkirk.
