Smart Japanese debut for Godolphin colt Lemon Pop

Lemon Pop provided a smart update for his dam, Schumer Bloodstock purchase Unreachable, when successful on his debut for Godolphin in Japan on Saturday.

The son of Lemon Drop Kid, purchased by Harry Sweeney’s Paca Paca Farm for $70,000 as a Keeneland November weanling and trained by Hiroyasu Tanak, shook clear for a three-length success in the newcomers race at Tokyo.

Dam Unreachable was purchased privately by Chad Schumer after failing to sell for $55,000 at the 2019 Keeneland January Sale. By Giant’s Causeway, she is a daughter of Grade 3 winner Harpia, a sister to none other than Danehill and a descendant of Natalma, the dam of Northern Dancer. It is also the family of our very own New York-based stallion Redesdale.

Unreachable has a yearling colt by Practical Joke, a weanling colt by Good Magic and returned to that Hill ‘n’ Dale stallion this year.
