A $1 million yearling, Seeking The Best won nine races and over $1.8 million for Hideyuki Mori in Japan including the 2006 Group 3 Tokyo Chunichi Sports Hai Musahino Stakes.
Retired to stud in Kentucky in 2008, his first small crop are three-year-olds and contain five winners from 15 runners.
Seeking The Best boasts one of the deepest pedigrees in the stud book, being one of two stakes winners out of Grade 3 heroine Mackie, a half-sister to Sea Hero and Hero’s Honor.
Haras Gran Derby is the largest stud farm in Venezuela and home to 90 broodmares as well as the country’s leading first-season sire Music School, a son of A P Indy. Other stallions under the Haras Gran Derby roster include Great War Eagle, a Dundalk Listed winner for David Wachman in 2007, Shawaf, a Mr Prospector son of Shadayid, and Monastic Springs, a son of Sadler’s Wells and South African champion Ipi Tombe.
