Redesdale to stud at Hidden Lake Farm at Questroyal North
REDESDALE TO STAND AT HIDDEN LAKE FARM
Close relation to Danehill was the dominating winner of his first three starts
BREEDERS will have the rare opportunity to tap into the stallion making family of Danehill with the addition of REDESDALE (Speightstown – Harpia by Danzig) to Hidden Lake Farm at Questroyal North in New York.
Redesdale will stand for a fee of $5,000, stands and nurses, and a limited number of lifetime breeding rights are available. The horse retires to stud as the property of Hidden Lake Farm, LLC, Schumer Bloodstock and 3C Stable, LLC.
Campaigned by Chad Schumer and Brendan Walsh, Redesdale was the dominating winner of his first three starts over 6f. He was the sharp winner of a Churchill Downs maiden special weight on his career debut and later captured a pair of Fair Ground allowance races – on the second occasion he scored by four lengths for a 95 Beyer. He met defeat just once when injured in the G3 Commonwealth Stakes at Keeneland.
Making Redesdale a particularly exciting addition to New York is the fact that he is a member of arguably the most powerful stallion family in the world and from arguably the greatest sire line in the world.
By Speightstown, he is out of G3 winner Harpia, a Danzig sister to the outstanding stallion DANEHILL. Danehill sired 347 stakes winners during his illustrious stud career and is widely regarded as one of the greatest influences in the Stud Book; this year alone, his sire line has accounted for the winners of 75 G1 races worldwide.
Not only that, Harpia is a great-granddaughter of Natalma, dam of the ultimate breed shaper Northern Dancer.
This is the same family of the great sire Halo and Machiavellian – other important influences, as well as Proud Citizen, multiple graded stakes sire including two Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks winners.
“Redesdale offers every element for what I look for in a stallion,” said Chris Bernhard. “Speed, looks and pedigree. His family is second to none. How often can you get Danehill under the second dam? Danehill is arguably the most important sire/sire of sires in Europe and Australia, and Northern Dancer is in my opinion the most important sire line period.
“Our partnership group is very excited about developing Redesdale into the next big horse and we will support him heavily.”
Chad Schumer added: “I don’t think you can find a more powerful stallion family worldwide than that belonging to Razyana and Natalma, and for a competitive fee, Redesdale offers the breeders the chance to tap into just that.
“His race record offers a snapshot of the abundant talent that we know this horse possessed. We are in no doubt that he would have had the speed to be competitive with the best around had injury not intervened and we are looking forward to supporting him strongly at stud.”
