Exciting 3yo Prince Of Hempt maintained his rise through the ranks on Saturday with an authoritative victory in the City Of Laurel Stakes at Laurel Park.
Making his stakes debut off an unbeaten sequence of three wins, Prince Of Hempt stalked the leaders before making his challenge and ultimately outbattling Tale Of Silence to win by a length. Sonic Mule ran third.
The Timothy Kreiser-trained Prince Of Hempt, who was purchased in utero by Chad Schumer on behalf of his breeder Don Brown for just $20,000, now boasts four wins from as many starts for earnings of $173,160.
The son of Majestic Warrior is the third foal out of Promised Treasure, who was purchased by Chad out of the Hidden Brook consignment at the 2014 Keeneland January Sale. The daughter of Broken Vow is a winning granddaughter of G1 winner Tenski.
Promised Treasure has also produced minor winners Bet The Yo and Jack Quickstart since her purchase.
Also on Saturday, Lucky Loretta ran out the 6 1/2 length winner of an allowance at Delta Downs to land her third race in four starts. The daughter of Jersey Town is out of Soul Of The Gem, bought by Chad Schumer for $13,000 at the 2013 Keeneland November Sale.
