Paid Up Subscriber dominant in G2 Fleur de Lis; dam bought for $37,000
Paid Up Subscriber left Untapable in her wake when running out the hugely impressive winner of the G2 Fleur de Lis at Churchill Downs on Saturday. Now the winner of over $270,000 and four of her eight starts, the four-year-old is out of the stakes-placed Shriek, who was purchased by Chad Schumer as agent while in foal to leading sire Scat Daddy for just $37,000 at the 2014 Keeneland November Sale.
Fresh off an easy allowance score at Churchill Downs, Paid Up Subscriber stalked the pace before taking charge in midstretch to win going away by three lengths from Brooklynsway.
“Even though we knew that there were some tigers in here, the way she trained up to it really gave us a lot of confidence going in,” trainer Al Stall was quoted as saying in the TDN. “I’ve had quite a few good horses, but she’s trained as any I’ve ever had in my life.”
Bred by Bruce and Laurie Berenson, Paid Up Subscriber is the third foal and winner out of Shriek following the multiple scorers Hardware and Race Hunter. Shriek, a Street Cry half-sister to G2 winner Stanley Park, also has a two-year-old colt by Mineshaft that realised $97,000 as a yearling.
