New stakes winner for Schumer purchase Always A Star

Schumer Bloodstock mare purchase Always A Star was represented by yet another stakes winner on Friday when two-year-old Marie Mackay won the Shady Well Stakes at Woodbine.

The Daniel Vella-trained Noble Mission filly is a half-sister to five-time stakes winner Star Of The North, who races as a homebred for Michael Grossman, as well as Always Inthe Munny, the 8 1/2 length winner of last year’s Bara Lass Stakes at Lone Star Park, and the stakes-placed Scatter A Star.

Always A Star is a Danehill daughter of the G3-placed Coralita from the further family of champion Loving Claim.

Maria Mackay races as a homebred for Track West Racing and Donald Whalen.
