New stakes win for Exoteric; dam cost $6,000 at KEENOV 2018

Short Dance

Another day, another update. On Saturday, Exoteric landed the Listed ATC Cup at Rosehill in Australia to provide a handy enhancement to the profile of his dam Short Dance.

Short Dance was purchased for just $6,000 in foal to Noble Mission by Schumer Bloodstock at last month’s Keeneland November Sale.

Looking to add a second Listed success to his resume this season, the Juddmonte-bred Exoteric maintained a solid gallop throughout on Saturday and drew away to beat Our Century by 1-3/4 lengths.

Trainer Chris Waller was impressed, telling AAP Racing: “I think he is the most improved horse in the stable. He won the Port Macquarie Cup which was a good race and then the Tattersalls Cup.

“We will get him ready for the Christmas Cup in two weeks.”

Short Dance was a high-class filly in Britain for Barry Hills and Prince Khalid Abdullah, winning the Listed Radley Stakes at Newbury and the Listed Michael Seely Memorial Stakes by no less than 12 lengths at York.

The daughter of Hennessy is also the dam of promising two-year-old Kathak, who ran a fine third on debut for Brad Cox at Keeneland.
