Lemon Pop on the road to the KY Derby – dam purchased by Schumer B/S
A major update came the way of private Schumer Bloodstock purchase Unreachable on Saturday when her two-year-old son, LEMON POP, maintained his unbeaten record in the prestigious Cattleya Stakes – the first of four races on the Japan Road to the Kentucky Derby – at Tokyo.
Lining up off the back of an impressive three-length debut win, Lemon Pop was always travelling well and after kicking clear with Takeru Pegasus off the turn, gamely shook clear under Keita Tosaki for a length success. The pair pulled seven lengths clear of the third.
A $70,000 Keeneland November foal purchase, Lemon Pop is out of Unreachable, a regally-bred Giant’s Causeway half-sister to our own REDESDALE and a daughter of Grade 3 winner Harpia. By Danzig, Harpia is a sister to none other than Danehill and a member of the extended family of Northern Dancer.
Unreachable was purchased on behalf of an established client by Chad Schumer after failing to attain her reserve of $55,000 at the 2020 Keeneland January Sale. She was in foal to Good Magic at the time.
