Jennifer romps in Saudi Arabian stake; dam bought for $22,000

Jennifer, purchased in utero by Chad Schumer on behalf of Saudi Arabian interests for $22,000, recently ran out the ultra impressive ten-length winner of The Equestrian Club Award Stakes in Saudi Arabia.

Campaigned by ALassail Stable, Jennifer is now the winner of four of ten starts.

Jennifer, by Macho Uno, is the first named foal out of Gunforhome, a winning daughter of Mingun bought by Chad Schumer for $22,000 at the 2015 Keeneland November Sale. Gunforhome is a half-sister to the high-class Turallure, whose five wins included the G2 Bernard Baruch Handicap.

In what has been a good period for Schumer Bloodstock’s Saudi Arabian interests, another purchase, former Juddmonte stallion First Defence, was on Saturday represented by the G2 Railway Stakes winner Siskin.

Prince Khalid Abdullah’s unbeaten colt is now as low as 12/1 for next year’s 2,000 Guineas for Ger Lyons.

G1 winner First Defence, a regally bred son of Unbridled’s Song who is also the sire of G1 winner Close Hatches, was sold in a deal brokered by Schumer Bloodstock to stand at Haif Stud in Saudi Arabia for the 2017 season.

Siskin is also a close relative to fellow Schumer purchase Faraway Flower; that mare has a yearling filly by Flintshire slated to sell at this year’s Keeneland September Sale.
