Grade 1 Gamely Stakes next for Stormy Lucy after Grade 3 victory
Stormy Lucy, who was making her first start for new connections Steve Moger and his brother Ed, was brought with a well timed run by Rafael Bejarano to defeat Miss Serendipity in a time of 1.58.73.
The Santa Barbara was the seventh victory for Stormy Lucy, also winner of the Santa Ana Stakes (G2) earlier this year in the colours of Erica Gaunt. The mare also ran second in the 2012 Del Mar Oaks (G1) and third in the Rodeo Drive Stakes (G1).
Her dam, Here Comes Lucinda (pictured left), was purchased by Chad Schumer, as agent, in foal to Indian Charlie for $32,000 at the 2011 Keeneland November Sale when Stormy Lucy was a two-year-old. By leading broodmare sire Dixieland Band, Here Comes Lucinda is a half-sister to the Grade 2-placed Thatswhatimean and Atswhatimtalknbout.
