Good maiden win for Home Base; dam bought by Schumer B/S

Promising three-year-old Home Base defied his big odds to break his maiden at Keeneland on Friday. The son of Street Sense, who was bred in Canada by Jay and Christine Hayden out of Schumer Bloodstock purchase Cast Call, was always prominent in the 7f affair and held off a slew of challengers to win by a length and three-quarters for Michael Tomlinson.

Home Base is out of Cast Call, bought by Chad Schumer on behalf of Jay and Christine Hayden for $115,000 while carrying the colt at the 2015 Keeneland November Sale. He is the second winner already this year for the mare following Storyboard, a progressive runner during the Meydan Carnival in Dubai.

Cast Call, who is a winning A.P. Indy daughter of Grade 1 winner Shadow Cast, also has a two-year-old Noble Mission colt called Noble Spirit.
