G3 win for improving Front Pocket Money; dam a private purchase

July 24

Private purchase Turbulent Times became the latest stakes producer to pass through Schumer Bloodstock when her three-year-old son, Front Pocket Money, took the G3 Jersey Shore Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday.

Also successful in an allowance at Churchill Downs in May, Front Pocket Money advanced his record for Steve Asmussen to three wins from five starts for $152,050 in prize-money.

The son of Uncle Mo is the first foal out of Turbulent Times, a daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus purchased privately in the autumn of 2014. She is a half-sister to the Classic-placed miler Honoured Guest and out of Wind Silence, an A.P. Indy half-sister to G2 winner Surya, herself dam of G1 winner Aruna. Other recent high-profile family members include the G1-placed Consort while she is a direct descendant of the influential mare Kittiwake.

Also on Saturday, two-year-old Raglan Road turned in another good effort to run a close third to Velvet Mood in the My Dear Stakes at Woodbine.

The daughter of Victor’s Cry made a winning debut at Woodbine in May before returning to the same track to run second in the Nandi Stakes.

She is the third winner from as many living foals out of Glaslyn, purchased for $15,000 by Chad Schumer while in foal to Temple City at last year’s Keeneland November Sale. The Forestry mare is out of stakes winner Extend, an Unbridled’s Song relation to top sprinter Dancing Spree.
