Classic aspirations for half-brother to 7,500gns purchase Ghusoon
GHUSOON, a 7,500gns purchase by Chad Schumer as agent at the 2012 Tattersalls December Sale, gained a serious update on Sunday when her unbeaten half-brother Zawraq ran out the impressive winner of the Listed Leopardstown 2,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown.
The colt, a homebred for Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum and trained by Dermot Weld, was introduced at 12/1 for the Epsom Derby immediately afterwards.
Schumer Bloodstock’s European department purchased seven horses in Europe in the period December 2012 to December 2013; asides from Ghusoon, they include Call Me Marilyn, whose half-sister Ball Dancing won yesterday’s Jenny Wiley Stakes (G1) at Keeneland, and Shy Rosa, who went on to turnover approximately $100,000 for her new connections within the year. Between them, they cost less than a total of 30,000gns.
Ghusoon, by Red Ransom, is out of Sundus, a winning half-sister to 1,000 Guineas heroine Ghanaati. Her third dam is the outstanding mare Height Of Fashion, dam of Nashwan, Unfuwain and Nayef among others.
