Bright future beckons for Extry colt

The son of Big Brown ran second on his debut at the same track late last year and was thus sent off at 2/1 to go one better. Settled in third early on this occasion, he ran down Gunderson to win by a length-and-a-half.

Ground Transport becomes the fifth winner out of Extry, a Broad Brush half-sister to Beverly D Stakes (G1) heroine Fire The Groom, herself the dam of champion European sprinter and successful sire Stravinsky, and Vernons Sprint Cup (G1) winner Dowsing.

Extry was purchased in foal to Macho Uno for $7,000 by Chad Schumer at the 2012 Keeneland November Sale.
