Birdstone colt turns massive profit for Brown Island Stables
A BIRDSTONE colt bought through Chad Schumer as agent for just $13,000 as a yearling was one of the highlights of the Goresbridge Breeze-up Sale in Ireland on Friday when selling for €145,000 to Ibrahim Rachid.
It was another good result for his vendor John Collins’ Brown Island Stables, one of the most highly respected breeze-up consignors in Europe.
Out of the winning Smart Strike mare Royal Flush, the colt is a half-brother to stakes winner Legacy. He is set to join Irish trainer David Marnane.
His sale maintained a strong run for Brown Island Stables – their sales this spring also include a Hat Trick colt, who sold for €42,000 at the Arqana Breeze-up having cost $6,000 through Schumer as a yearling, and a Distorted Humor filly, a $67,000 purchase who was resold for 100,000gns at the Tattersalls Craven Sale.
Schumer Bloodstock will next be in action at the Tattersalls July Sale (7-10 July) in Newmarket.
