Arctic King romps by 16 lengths at Aqueduct

The Bruce Brown-trained son of Zensational took over under a hard hold from Jose Ortiz with five-sixteenths to run and drew clear under a hand ride to score by daylight in the nine horse field.

Only three days earlier, Stormy Lucy added another stakes performance to her record when a narrow second in the G3 Robert J. Frankel Stakes at Santa Anita. Successful in the G1 Matriarch Stakes on her previous start, Stormy Lucy is out of Here Comes Lucinda, a $32,000 Keeneland November purchase by Chad Schumer back in 2011.

Over in France, it was nice to see Trajano, bred by Chad Schumer and Patricia Clark among others under the banner EMF Broodmares 2004, get off the mark as a stallion courtesy of Santorina, who was successful in a nursery at Deauville.

Santorina is one of just two first-crop runners this year for her sire; the other, Salerno, has been placed five times.

Trajano, a son of Elusive Quality out of Schumer Bloodstock purchase Fly To The Moon, won or was placed in 20 of his 40 starts. He stands at Haras de la Bareliere in France.
