Another stakes win for Gianna’s Dream; dam purchased for $10,000

September 25

Gianna’s Dream added another stakes victory to her resume yesterday when successful in the Ricks Memorial Stakes at Remington Park.

Fresh off a good run when third in the G3 Violet Stakes, Gianna’s Dream was sent off favourite in the 12-horse field and didn’t disappoint backers, coming with a sweeping run to win well. It was the eighth win in 16 starts for the Twirling Candy filly, who now boasts approximately $320,000 in earnings for trainer Mike Maker.

Gianna’s Dream was bred by Center Hills Farm and Randy Blair out of Untamed Beauty, who was purchased while carrying the filly by Chad Schumer for just $10,000 at the 2012 Keeneland November Sale. The mare, a Rahy half-sister to the dam of G1 winner and successful sire Square Eddie, is the dam of seven winners overall.
