Meet The Team

Chad Schumer

Chad’s early beginnings in bloodstock were trips to the iconic Churchill Downs with his grandmother while just a child of five years. He became enthralled with the other side of the business – not the gambling that drew his grandmother in, but rather the idea of pedigrees and where these thoroughbreds came from.

This eventually led to his attending the University of Louisville Equine Industry Program, part of the College of Business. Many years later, he was called back to the University as guest lecturer.

Now with over 25 years experience, he continues to advise and assist our clients worldwide in obtaining young stock to race, broodmares and stallion prospects to breed, pinhooking, mating recommendations and insurance services. Among the leading buyers at the North American sales, Chad has been ranked among the top purchasers of bloodstock each of the past few years.

Currently, Nancy is bloodstock editor of Owner Breeder magazine, Newmarket sales correspondent for European Bloodstock News (EBN) and a regular contributor to Thoroughbred Racing Commentary.

She also sits on the board of the National Stud in Newmarket and is a consultant to a number of breeders and associations worldwide, including Imad Al Sagar’s Blue Diamond Stud and Stonereath Farm in Newmarket and Kentucky.

Nancy has long enjoyed pinhooking and continues to maintain a small group of broodmares in Europe and the US – with Chad, she co-bred stakes winners Tarpy’s Goal and Purging The Stone.

Mary comes from a racing family going back generations in training and bloodstock. At the age of sixteen, she took out her license as an amateur steeplechase jockey and competed successfully throughout her years at school.

Over the past ten years she has spent time gaining experience from top trainers and farms around the world. This includes her uncle Graham Motion, Christophe Clement, Rodolphe Brisset, Tom Proctor, Henry Daly, Oliver Sherwood, George Baker, Gai Waterhouse, Ciaron Maher and Novara Park Stud. These opportunities provided Mary with an understanding on how the industry works on a global scale, not only in bloodstock, but racing as well.

With a passion to go even further in the thoroughbred industry, she moved to Lexington, KY in 2021. Since her move she has been establishing herself in the bloodstock world under the guidance of Chad and Nancy, and after spending over a year assisting them at the sales, Mary became a full time member of the team in January of 2023.
