£160,000 Point Of Entry colt caps big European breeze-up season
Schumer Bloodstock’s foray into the European breeze-up market ended with a bang on Thursday at the relocated Tattersalls Ireland Goresbridge Breeze-Up Sale in Newmarket thanks to the sale of a Point Of Entry colt for £160,000 – the fifth highest price recorded during the sale.
The colt had been a $35,000 yearling purchase by Chad Schumer out of last year’s Keeneland September Sale.
One of four 2yos to sell in Europe this year in partnership with Church Farm and Horse Park Stud, he brings to a close a hugely successful season that also featured the sale of a Distorted Humor colt for £260,000 (a $20,000 yearling), a More Than Ready colt for 145,000gns (a $40,000 yearling) and a Street Boss colt for 110,000gns (a $37,000 yearling).
Richard Brown of Blandford Bloodstock won the battle for the Point Of Entry colt.
“I thought he was an absolute smashing horse, a gorgeous individual and a big horse,” he told reporters. “He’s a big colt to do the sort of breeze that he did and I don’t think he will have liked the ground as he has a bit of a knee action on him so I think he’ll be better with a bit of juice in the ground. He came out of it completely sound and I am delighted to get him, he’s a lovely colt.”
